The user manual states that the product is designed to reduce the risk of injury at work. It does not completely prevent injury if an accident exceeds the test limits in the standard, and no personal protective equipment can guarantee complete protection. The category and level of protection are given on the product. Footwear with a toe cap protects the toes against falling objects (protection 200 J, compression protection 15,000 N). Before each use the user must check that the footwear is complete and free from damage that could affect the protective functions, for example cracks, holes or damaged seams, and a risk assessment must be carried out in the working environment.

Choose the right size before first use, because footwear that is too small or too large restricts movement and does not give the right level of protection. Use a shoe horn. Adjust the footwear by tying the laces or fastening the closures, and loosen all closures and laces before taking the footwear off. Do not take the footwear off by pressing the toe of one shoe against the heel of the other, as this damages the product. The footwear fits correctly when the foot sits firmly and does not pinch.

Care: preserve the footwear before first use and every time it is cleaned. Clean with a slightly damp cloth and leave to dry, then apply a small amount of a good quality product intended for the type of material. Do not use corrosive cleaning agents and avoid soaking the footwear. Wet footwear must dry at room temperature in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, with shoe trees or soft paper inside, away from heat sources. Do not dry it with dryers or near a heater. Do not use opaque or self-gloss polishes, do not apply too thick a layer and do not apply a new layer on top of the old one.

Storage: keep the footwear in a dry and ventilated place in the original cardboard box, in rooms with a temperature of 5 to 24 °C and humidity of 50 to 70 %. Protect it against extreme weather conditions, dirt, mechanical damage and chemicals, and do not crush or bend it. Poor storage conditions can reduce the level of protection.

The footwear is supplied with a removable insole, and the tests were carried out with that insole fitted. It may only be replaced by an insole supplied by the footwear or insole manufacturer that meets the standard in combination with the footwear. Footwear supplied with insoles may only be used with them.

Shelf life: no exact shelf life can be given, as it depends on factors such as intensity of use, weather and environment. When stored in the right conditions, the shelf life is usually 5 years from the date of manufacture for footwear made of leather with a rubber sole and 3 years for footwear made with added PU.

Antistatic footwear should be used when it is necessary to minimise the build-up of electrostatic charge, but it does not give complete protection against electric shock. It is not suitable for work on live electrical installations and does not protect against electric shock from AC or DC voltage. The electrical resistance can change considerably through flexing, contamination or moisture, and the user should carry out an in-house test of the electrical resistance at regular and frequent intervals. Antistatic socks are recommended.

The footwear must not be modified, with the exception of orthopaedic adaptations. Only new, undamaged and unrepaired footwear meets the performance levels given in the marking, and the product is not intended for contact with fire. Damaged footwear, even if the damage is hard to see after an impact or compression, must be replaced with new footwear. Dispose of the product in accordance with the environmental rules of the country of use. The warranty is one year and covers factory defects only.

Symbol explanations according to the user manual: S1: as SB (basic safety requirements, including toe protection with a toe cap resistant to compression up to 15 kN and impact with an energy of 200 J), plus closed heel area, antistatic properties and energy absorption in the heel area. FO: soles resistant to diesel oil.
